The Captivating Palette of Greece
Dear Friends,
I hope you are making the best of this warm and sunny month of July. I’m afraid my July newsletter got necessarily sidetracked by a beautiful trip to Greece in which my husband and I managed to combine both business and pleasure.
What a place for an artist’s inspiration! Although the Greek islands abound in stunning scenery, what really affected me was the uniquely Grecian palettes of delicious, bright, saturated COLOR! The experience of rich color, as you may know, has always brought me much joy and inspiration for my work.
I was especially stirred by the way the changing light played over the sea, creating an extensive palette of blues – cobalt, cerulean, cyan, azure, turquoise – colors that seem ready-made for expression using cold wax and encaustic (hot wax) paints.
The sunsets, too, had a uniquely beautiful palette!
So, I’m off to my studio with the captivating hues of Greece fresh in my mind!
Stay tuned!
Linda
